I have been collecting rocks,
minerals, and fossils all my life. Thanks to the influence of my grandfather Roy Duane Schafer. Roy was a farmer
/ rancher in north Texas. He shared with me his love of the outdoors and his appreciation of nature. An avid collector
of stamps, coins, guns, rocks, and the largest collection of barbed wire in Texas. Roy got me hooked on rocks!
THANKS Grandad!
Roy passed away in 1976 and then after my grandmother Corene passed in
1995 I inherited Roy's rock and mineral collection. Surprisingly I found he had collected about 800 pounds of cutting
rough from all over the world. I was lucky a family friend with an RV was driving through Texas and brought the
collection to me, saving me a huge freight bill to have it packed and shipped.
Needless to say I have had a lot of good material to play with since then.
I have added to the collection over time and hate to guess how much it all weighs now! Soooo, I hope to get the
collection more organized and be able to share some of these treasures with those who can appreciate the beauty
trapped for millions of years inside.
The following pages I will use to showcase some of my most interesting
finished pieces and materials. If you are looking for something you don't see here, drop me a line or give me a
call. If I don't have it, I might know someone who does. We have a wonderful rock club here in Venice and the members have some top notch rocks, gems,
minerals, and more.
Thanks for looking! Tell a friend, and come back soon.
