Bradenton's "GeckoFest" 2010
Bradenton Florida had their 3rd "GeckoFest" Event. The first event in 2006 was a great success for
the City of Bradenton and the Artists Guild of Manatee, Inc. (Village
of the Arts), and we were very excited to be involved in their 2008 event. We took delivery of a 6 foot Gecko
that was decorated by October 2009 and then placed on public display in Bradenton for 6 months. After the 6 month
display time, the Geckos were to be auctioned off at a Gala Live Auction in April 2010. Proceeds went to an important
fundraising venture that helped our local school children, to strengthen and grows our local cultural community,
and to support future art-on-the-street projects, its arts and artists.
Cybor-Gecko is a solar powered bug zapping machine! Modeled after the real life Electric Blue Day Gecko (Lygodactylus
williamsi), his solar powered features including a shoulder mounted UV illuminated bug zapper, red biomech eye,
and other lighting features. Exo-armor and bionic style enhancements on his glowing electric blue skin will give
this gecko the appearance of a bugs worst nightmare. Not content with just looking good, this guy works all night
killing bugs!
Cybor-Gecko sold at the auction and now resides on a beautiful house overlooking the Manatee River in Bradenton.
If you come across the old A1A bridge in Bradenton, he is on the NE side facing the water with a few other geckos
for company. Thanks to all the artists and sponsors that made the Geckofest 2010 a wonderful event!
Our 2010 gecko was sponsored by and displayed on the building of::
